An address book is important for people on the go. You normally write the names of the people you meet in meetings, their addresses and phone numbers. Whenever you need something from them, you just go through your address book, and you will find their numbers. But what if you lost your address book, and you can’t find it just when you needed to call your friend, what will you do? Good thing you have your white pages directory and you remember your friend’s address. Last Tango in Rodrigues January 2, 2007 Next to the plight of the besieged Palestinians, unspeakable inhumanity in Papua, living-nightmare in Iraq, ethnic-cleansing in Dafur to bring up Rodrigues recent election is a bit like farting in church. But, I guess a toothache, to the one on the end of it, is as important as the whole of Pompeii being encased in volcanic ash. On December 10, 2006, Rodrigues had an election or hatchet job, depending on who you talk to. Five months ago, following the defection of two OPR [Organisation du peuple Rodriguais] commissioners, the then opposition party of MR [Mouvement Rodriguais] suddenly found itself with a majority in the Assembly. Pre-empting a motion of no confidence, OPR commissioners resigned en bloc. Consequently, MR formed an interim government, which was later elected in its own right. Let me describe step by odd step, how this was played out. It all began with the 2002 Lying Spouse decision, to load Rodrigues with a proportional electoral system. To this end, the Political Intelligentsia, hmm, (excuse the oxymoron) commissioned experts and, an experimental system of FPTP [first-past-the-post] hybridized with party-list PR [proportional representation] was eventually concocted. By and large, proportional systems are intended to give minority groups a degree of representation in the government. But, in the context of Rodrigues homogeneous population and its handful of seats, our model though well-intentioned, was unsuitable. In the meantime, it inadvertently affords the parties the option of burying their less popular candidates in the party list, thereby making them less accountable to the electorate. As a potential future template for Mauritius, the proportional received the lepers welcome. Even so it was considered good-enough for Rodrigues. Thus, our people were enlisted to be its guinea pigs.

The Year 2014, World and USA Projection Part I

Hasan Yahya, PH.DsThe United States of America will prevail, in the Year 2014 as it was in Clinton times. Futurists are busy in their projections worldwide. The most important for us Americans is future of the United States, locally, internationally, and globally. Locally: there are two important areas where most futurists bring projections. In my projection, the political and the economic areas. Internationally, however diplomacy and cooperation with the EU members states through the NATO Forces. And globally, in terms of the Dollar power, the challenges for the American leadership over the world. – Politically: The Democratic party will continue to sweep the miss of Bush Administration. The agenda for America will stay the same. President Barack Obama will continue his way to bring Republican and Democrat for the benefits of America. Obama will be remembered as the Sweeper presiden Signs of Cheating t who will gain victory over deficit, Americas reputation in terms of strategic influence worldwide. The government carries the burden of Banks, auto companies, and much more. A new beginning will take place in almost every sector of the economy. The good days for America are coming back. Iraq will be a democracy as the United States wishes. Afghanistan will be also economy with the help of NATO forces. The oil will continue to come to the United States, New avenues will be discovered scientifically speaking, in terms of Natural energy resources. Our troops will come back home, new jobs will be opened, Unemployment will get low to its old percentage. And finally, The Dollar will remain strong which will help economic recovery in the next five years.- Economically: The economy will be settled, jobs and employment will flower over the states and the deficit will be reduced to a minimal.

In the trenches of the family law court system, a lesson learned

The experience of the family law court system is brutal and with having to personally experience this one more time, I want to stress to those women who are in the trenches right now, dont give up, see it to the end, there is relief. I sat in the court room last week and watched the judge as he calls the cases and I am intrigued more and more, he doesnt read any of the documents prior to calling the cases on calendar. What is most disturbing is that you will have to explain what is going on and get him up to speed about the case and often, the judge becomes frustrated when the parties are battling it out, especially if there are attorneys involved. I watch his demeanor with the lawyers and how he interacts with them, which gives me a heads up on his m Signs of Lying ood. I observe how his hair is styled, which also tells me a lot about if he was running late that morning. I watch and listen very carefully to the parties representing themselves and how he treats them, which gives me another heads up as to how I will go before him to plead my case; under the assumption, that he has reviewed the documents I just filed with his clerk prior to court being called. The judge looks disheveled.  Great! I continue to listen as the judge goes through his list, anticipating when he will call my case. For me, my heart pounds so fast, it feels as though it will pop right out of my chest. Going to court no matter who you are, provokes anxiety, I even see anxiety on the faces of some of the seasoned lawyers, which makes me laugh.
